- In ancient times there were fairies in Ireland and there are still fairy breezes. While the people were out in the fields making hay a breeze would come and take the hay off the ground and take it up in the air. They called this a fairy breeze. One day I was out in the field and I heard a noises coming through the bushes. The stalks were taken off the drills and the sheaves of oats were taken about a half mile away from the field. The breeze lasted about three minutes.
